MAXimum Performance
The Challenge
A Welco client required a pump with the ability to handle multiple applications with ranging densities – A pump that could go the distance.
The pump would be utilized for five variable applications, including: heavy media sumps, flotation sumps, and make up magnetite sumps along with two proprietary streams.
The Solution
Welco determined the FLSmidth vMAX 2x2 vertical cantilever pump would be perfect for heavy media and proprietary streams while the vMAX 4x4 would would facilitate flotation and mganetite make up sump applications. Flow requirements were within 300 and 600 USGPM for all.
The vMAX design incorporates a recessed impeller, a feature not offered by competitive products, allowing for passing of large solids and operation without the need for sump level control.
The Outcome
The pumps have been in in operation since 2019 with no recorded upsets or irregular events, providing reliable and continuous operation.
